Hans Staudacher wird am 14. Januar 1923 in St. Urban am Ossiachersee geboren und findet autodidaktisch zur Kunst. Er übersiedelt 1950 nach Wien um sich u.a. den Wiener Secessionisten anzuschließen. 1951 in Paris stößt Staudacher erstmals auf Künstler der art informel, u.a. George Mathieu und dem „Lettrismus", die eine neue Kunstrichtung vertreten und einen Gegenpol zur geometrischen Abstraktion setzen. Zu deren Merkmalen zählen die Formlosigkeit und die Spontaneität in der künstlerischen Produktion. Farbe und andere bildnerische Materialien werden ungebunden eingesetzt. Der Arbeitsprozess unterliegt keinen starren Regeln, er folgt auch, wie im Surrealismus, den Prozessen des Unbewussten. Von nun an bestimmt die Informelle Kunst die Entwicklung des Künstlers. Der internationale Durchbruch gelingt Hans Staudacher 1965, nach der großen Ausstellung in Paris und der Biennale in Venedig, sowie mit dem Hauptpreis in Tokio. Hans Staudacher schaffte mit seinen kalligraphischen und lyrischen Notizen, eine freie, neue Realität und sollte damit der wichtigste österreichische Maler im Bereich der Informellen Kunst werden.
Hans Staudacher was born on January 14th, 1923 in St. Urban at Lake Ossiach and auto-didactically finds his way to art. He moves to Vienna in 1950 to join the Vienna Secession. In Paris in 1951, Staudacher meets some of the artists from art informel for the first time. Among the artists is George Mathieu and so Staudacher experienced the new art movement “Lettrismus” which set an antipole to the geometric abstraction. Characteristics of the new movement are formlessness and spontaneity in the artistic production. Colours and other materials are used freely. The process is no subject of rigid rules, but follows, just as in surrealism, the processes of the unconsciousness. From now on, art informel defines the development of the artist. In 1965, Hans Staudacher has his international breakthrough after a big exhibition in Paris and the biennial arts festival in Venice, and with winning the first prize in Tokyo. Staudacher created with his calligraphic and lyric notes a new and free reality and became one of the most important Austrian painters in the field of art informel.
